Instrument Configuration:

 

The instrument consists of a solenoid & Helmholtz coil tester, an HG302 Hall effect sensor, an HW322B Hall effect sensor, a Helmholtz coil test bench, and a solenoid.

The Helmholtz coil spacing can be adjusted freely, and the connection method of the measuring coil can be changed freely.

The solenoid has a simple structure.

 

 

Experimental Details


Measure the magnetic field distribution of a Helmholtz coil and a solenoid using a Hall effect device.

 

 

Experimental Objectives


1. Understand the principle of measuring magnetic fields using the Hall effect;
2. Measure the magnetic field distribution inside a solenoid;
3. Measure the magnetic field distribution when the Helmholtz coil spacing is R/2, R, and 2R.

Hall current: Continuously adjustable (0-2.5mA (solenoid), 0-5mA (Helmholtz))

 

The Helmholtz & Solenoid Laboratory Apparatus combines two coils (which can also be used separately) to generate a uniform magnetic field (Helmholtz coil) or a long, straight, uniform axial magnetic field (solenoid). It verifies the Biot-Savart law, the principle of magnetic field superposition, and magnetic field distribution patterns. It is an essential device for teaching basic electromagnetics.
